July 7, 2015 - 1 minute read

Jennie Cotterill is an illustrator and badass. In this talk for Connecting Things So Cal, she encouraged us to reach out and get to know the people around us. Genuinely creating meaningful relationships with people can lead to the most amazing projects and opportunities. We just need to remember to be patient with each other, And to give new people in our lives space to tell us something awesome about themselves.

  • “Don’t compare yourself with other people. Just keep doing what you’re doing.”
  • Human = resources. Friendship = projects.”
  • When you create things people ask you to make more.
  • Don’t compare yourself to others. Just keep your eyes on what you’re doing
  • Take the opportunities that come your way.
  • Make your own party. Take responsibility for your own happiness.
  • You take control of the things you want and don’t wait for anyone else to do it for you. Do it yourself.
  • Edit out negativity
  • Let people tell you something amazing
  • Differences make groups stronger. Don’t just make friends with people who are just like you.
